[email protected] Fascia is a thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber and muscle in place. This tissue is made up of multiple layers surrounded by fluid which does more than provide internal structure; fascia has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as skin. This fluid permits the transportation of oxygen, nutrients and waste from cell to cell. Fascia is designed to stretch as you move but there are certain things that cause fascia to thicken and become sticky. When it becomes dry it tightens around muscles which can limit mobility and cause painful knots to develop. When stressed, it tightens up and seeks your attention with aches and pains. Fascia can become stiff after injuries, surgery, or bad posture habits.
Our typical daily stressors aren't actual emergencies, but the way the nervous system interprets them can trigger muscular responses in our bodies. If we habituate those responses every day without releasing the tightened muscles, we are physically and mentally holding stress in our bodies. Come learn daily movements to rehydrate the connective tissue throughout your body and learn to release tight muscles with slow and gentle movements. This helps you to access the deep, stabilizing muscles of the joints, which in turn will allow you to cope with recurring pain.
Learning how to enliven, lengthen and release fascia is easy and utilizes slow, controlled movement. Regaining whole body range of motion and ease of movement is achieved when we learn how to activate dormant fascia connections. Pain relief and increased circulation can be achieved with regular fascia work. Once you experience how to release tight fascia you will feel the difference between releasing versus stretching.
You are welcome to join us whether you are recovering from injury or just want to find healthier ways to live and age. No need to preregister, no sign-up required. Please bring cash or chack, your own mat and wear socks.
TESTIMONIALS: "From the very first session, I experienced positive shifts in my body with a sense of deeper body interconnectedness during the gentle movements and Kimmer's well-explained guidance. Afterwards, both my body and mind felt relaxed yet energized, released and restored. As a former yoga instructor, I believe these somatic exercises are an excellent adjunct to my own personal yoga practice and look forward to incorporating them into daily life as well. I would recommend it to anyone looking to improve her/his ease of movement, body awareness and balanced well-being. Thanks, Kimmer!" Yana V.
